DITZ Reveal Peaches ‘F*ck The Pain Away’ Rework

19th February 2020

Fast-rising Brighton noise-rock band DITZ are pleased to reveal a very special reworking of Canadian poly-math Peaches’ hit single ‘F*ck The Pain Away’ ahead of their very first UK headline tour dates in February 2020, beginning on Valentine’s Day and including a London show at The Lexington on 20th February 2020.

The band were also recently announced for TRUCK Festival 2020.

The special reworking is an homage to one of the band’s favourite musical disruptors, paying tribute to an artist fearlessly exploring sexuality, gender identity, and queerness, all subjects that DITZ are also keen to highlight through their own songwriting, and are quickly becoming recognised for at a host of international press.

With a shrewd nod to the transient nature of all things and the importance of living for the moment (including, obviously, buying DITZ tickets immediately…), the band will release the track via a time-sensitive download code printed on a decomposing peach, with the secret code only accessible via a livestream video.

Commenting on their choice of track, the band said: It’s such a classic. Loud, proud, obnoxious and just plain funny. With ‘F*ck The Pain Away” Peaches gave the masses some of punk’s sex positivity. You can’t tell me that pop music today would be the same without Peaches, even though it doesn’t have half of her wit. Basically we just did this cover so that peaches would adult-adopt us.”

The cover comes ahead of further new music to be revealed by the band in the near future.

DITZ released their latest single ‘Total 90’ at the tail-end of 2019 (their first for new label Alcopop! Records) picking up plays from BBC Radio One, BBC 6music, and scoring an A List addition at Amazing Radio (hitting #2 in the AR chart), an evening playlist addition at Radio X new music man John Kennedy, as well as support from The iNewspaper, The Line of Best Fit, DORK Magazine, So Young Magazine, Come Play With Me, VISIONS and more.

The video for the track—which sees the band face off against a team consisting of members of friends from Slaves and FUR—was made to highlight discrimination and inequality within football. It was shot at The Dripping Pan, official ground for Lewes F.C. since 1885, and sees the band wearing Altrincham F.C.’s Football vs Homophobia rainbow coloured kit. They were also illustrated especially for the single release by badly-drawn sticker duo Panini Cheapskates.

‘F*ck The Pain Away’ is out now via a peach which is slowly decomposing at Alcopop! Records HQ. Sorry, Jack.
