HEAVY LUNGS Release Debut Album All Gas No Brakes Out Now

29th September 2023

Bristol punk/noise rock quartet HEAVY LUNGS are today proud to release their long-awaited debut album, All Gas No Brakes, which is out now via Alcopop! Records on acid green limited edition signed vinyl, and available to stream on all good platforms.

On finally releasing their much anticipated debut, the band said: “Today is the day, what more can we say. All Gas No Brakes is out on all platforms for all of you to enjoy. We are deeply proud of this record—it’s taken us enough time but we are finally here and it’s yours. We’re overwhelmed by numerous emotions so won’t get into that now. Instead, get into this LP and blast it loud as hell. We love you loads, thank you for sticking with us! Sincerely yours, Danny, Oli, James and George xoxo”

To celebrate the release, the band’s new single ‘Plagiarism’ is also out now following a first spin from Steve Lamacq on BBC 6music’s New Music Fix, and comes ahead of the band’s October 2023 album headline tour dates in support of the album, with tickets on sale now (see below for listings).

Commenting on the song, front man and vocalist Danny Nedelko says: “People say there are no original ideas left. Well, we are proving them wrong with tongue and cheek commentary about stealing intellectual property. It’s never been done before. We’re pretty sure it’s never been done before. We’re 79% sure.”

Recorded at Holy Mountain Studios with additional production at Humm Studios by producer Chris Fullard and assistant engineer Stanley Gravett, debut album All Gas No Brakes was mastered by Adam Gonsalves at Telegraph Audio.

Across the record—and especially on singles ‘Dancing Man’, ‘All Gas No Brakes’, ‘Head Tilter’, and ‘Plagiarism’—the band examine topics of anxiety, guilt, and mental health, but they’re never too far away from that healthy dose of Heavy Lungs humour. Be it redefining plagiarism and really making it their own, or musing on the inevitability of growing old and uncool, there’s a sense of mischief throughout.

The new track follows on from early singles ‘Dancing Man’, ‘All Gas No Brakes’ and ‘Head Tilter’ which were released earlier this year to a wave of enthusiastic support from Steve Lamacq at BBC 6musicDIY Magazine, DORK, UPSET, CLUNK Magazine, NARC Magazine and more, with the band recently playing a BBC 6music live session for Deb Grant & Tom Ravenscroft.

The band are also racking up an ever-increasing list of DSP support from Spotify including spots on high profile playlists including Post Punk, All New Punk, New In Rock, ASAP Rock, as well as Apple Music’s Matt Wilkinson’s Playlist, and TIDAL’s Indie Britain
