Littlehampton trio GLOO are pleased to reveal their new single ‘Force You’. The single is available now via all good digital retailers and streaming platforms through their own DIY label Dropping Bags Records, plus on a limited run of physical copies from the band’s music glue site: https://www.musicglue.com/gloo
“The song is basically a massive middle finger to being told what to do” say the band on the single “Do whatever you want regardless of what anyone else is thinking, saying or doing. The cherry on the top is that the main hook for this track is essentially all 3 of us just shouting at you.”
The product of their fading pleasure harbour and seaside resort hometown, Littlehampton, in West Sussex, GLOO speak for timeless day-to-day drudgery and angst. Modern life’s niggling problems, from unconquerable debt-mountains to living in “a shit hole” – and the lack of opportunities therein – are all fair game for their abrasive, high energy output.
A rhapsody to lives gone stale, their pop-laced noise punk is the perfect soundtrack to those in need of a little 21st Century escapism. Describing themselves as the “inbred descendants of Metz, The Stooges and AC/DC” there are enough beyond-distorted guitars and demented solos to give Dinosaur Jr. front man J Mascis the permanent hearing damage he’s seemingly always craved, but unfalteringly underpinned with a righteous ear for melody and a keen song writing talent.
Formed only 6 short months ago and already with a sound that hints at some seriously lofty aspirations, the band have already been busy travelling all around the UK supporting the likes of Queen Kwong, Demob Happy and Richie Ramone, as well as a number of performances at some of the UK’s most prestigious music venues, including Brighton’s Green Door Store, London’s O2 Islington Academy and The Dublin Castle.
With previous support from the likes of Amazing Radio, BBC Introducing, Kerrang! Radio, The Unsigned Guide and Punktastic, the trio are ramping up anticipation for their first full length release, details of which will be revealed later this year.
Their music, vivacity and spirited live shows speak for themselves – having quickly gathered together a strong core fan base with hundreds of followers across their social media, gloo have their eyes firmly set on breaking out of the drudgery they were born form over the coming months.
