Further details will be revealed in due course, but as a first taste of the record lead single ‘Begging’ is released on 23rd July 2021, citing influence from the likes of Years & YearsLauvGreyson ChanceConan GreyLennon Stella, and more.

Commenting on the themes behind the single, Patrick says: “‘Begging’ explores the personal struggles I face as a result of my bipolar disorder. It details the self-destruction it causes, as well as the strains it can often put on my relationships. It speaks of my desperation to hold those relationships intact. I’m literally ‘Begging’ those closest to me, not to give up on me. Pleading with them to see me for who I am, despite my flaws.”

To celebrate the news, Patrick Saint James will play a special SOLD OUT single release show at Gullivers, Manchester on 24th July 2021 in a headline performance, with support from Ambiere and Ceev.

Working with producer and writer Joe Cross (Lana Del Ray, Hurts, The Courteeners) on his forthcoming debut EP, Patrick’s mature take on pop songwriting sensibilities runs deep. A self-taught pianist from an early age, his unique style developed from his early love for Carole King and Adele.

Born with a hearing defect which means that he hears mainly through vibrations, Patrick Saint James has been songwriting since he was 15. Whilst studying music at college in Derry, Northern Ireland, he reluctantly accepted he would have to learn to perform in order to get his music heard.

Shortly after an early performance, he began to receive abusive text messages concerning his sexuality from a withheld number. Things intensified across the next few months as regular text and picture messages would arrive, showing him in public places moments after leaving those locations. Not being openly gay and anxious about the consequences of coming out, Patrick was losing sleep and feeling increasingly isolated; he had to get out.

Moving to Manchester, his confidence grew in a city where he could be himself, and he plunged into developing his writing, embracing mental health and sexuality as major themes. His most recent clutch of songs often describe dizzying and addictive relationships as well as the destructive elements of love and lust.

His early demos on Soundcloud clocked up over 300,000 streams, with Patrick quickly becoming renowned for his genuinely open and honest work, leading to a coveted spot on Spotify’s ‘Out Now’ playlist and seeing him nominated for an LGBTQ+ Music Award too.

Further details of the EP will be revealed over the coming months.
