Following a recent support slot with The Physics House Band, London experimental heavy post rock trio Petlib. (formerly known as Pet Library) have released a new single, ‘Disintegrate’—the latest track to be taken from their new album Maker, out now via Beth Shalom Records.
The band play a special album release show at Sebright Arms, London onSaturday 10th August 2019.
Influenced by the likes of Deafheaven, Employed To Serve and Loathe, Maker is an ambitious concept record exploring the power possessed by a higher being, and the moral choices that have to be made when assessing how our actions affect those we are in control of.
Once again returning to the narrative of Maker, the deity/creator character at the heart of the album, ‘Disintegrate’ bases itself on the Bible’s resurrection of Christ story in a metaphor for betrayal and the loss of self.
Commenting on the track, the band said: “The whole song is about acknowledging when you’re standing in your own way but at the same time feeling like you cannot stop yourself exhibiting self-destructive behaviours. The instrumentation behind the track draws heavy influence of experimental industrial and electronic music, with the ever-present discordance of anger that looms within the second half of the record, which Disintegrate falls into.”
Produced, engineered, mixed and mastered by Hamish Dickinson at Phoenix Sound Studio, the album sees the band bring their deep multi-disciplinary audio/visual insight to their creative process. Citing influence from Radiohead, Explosions In The Sky and Deafheaven, Petlib. harness an intensity that tells a poignant story through the soundscapes and accompanying visual elements developed in this bold new reimagining of the band.
The album has so far picked up support from Kerrang! Magazine, The 405,Already Heard, Heavy Blog Is Heavy, The Soundboard, Everything Is Noise,Total Rock Radio and more, and is available to purchase in various bundles now from NERC (Neurally Engineered Realities Corporation)—the galaxy’s top reality-manipulation research conglomerate.
Commenting on the concept behind NERC, the band say: “Built up of an ever-expanding team of technicians, NERC work towards evolving and researching the mind’s Spectrum of Reality Perspective with a goal of truly understanding the limits of what can be created beyond what we know to be real. NERC’s technician roster includes prized researchers MAKER, Captain, Orcus and Kern.”
