The single comes ahead of her performance at Copenhagen’s Under the Rainbow Pride concert tonight at K. B. Hallen arena alongside Princess Nokia, Theo X, Ivy Rosenauer, Ângie, Jean Michel, ZAND and more.
The new track is the second single to be taken from Rebecca Lou’s recently announced forthcoming second album Heavy Metal Feelings which will be released on 27th October 2021 via WAS Entertainment.
In keeping with the theme of the album as a whole, forthcoming new single ‘Bad Heart’ is an anti-people-pleasing anthem about being able to say no and protecting your own energy from things that aren’t good for you.
“It’s about saying no to people who cross your boundaries when you are not seen or heard,” explains Rebecca. “For me, the song became a kind of reclaiming of everything I felt I had given to a particular relationship that was bad for me. My time, energy and my confidence. In my own way, I took back everything I had given by writing ‘Bad Heart’. It meant a lot to me to write this song.”
Born on the island of Lolland in Denmark and launching her career in 2018 with her debut EP Skeletons, followed by 2019 debut album Bleed, Copenhagen-based doom pop newcomer Rebecca Lou is on a steep upward trajectory.
Pre-pandemic she was touring Europe playing shows at Spot Festival (DK), Reeperbahn (DE) and Waves Vienna (AT), and her music has been featured on multiple high profile Spotify playlists.
The album’s lead single ‘Lovesick’ was recently named track of the week by major Danish radio station P3 and is receiving heavy daytime rotation in her native country, and previous single ‘The Destroyer’ was released earlier this summer, receiving coverage from ASBO Magazine, Come Play With Me, Bring The Noise and a blanket of specialist and regional radio support across the UK, Germany and Scandinavia.
Rebecca Lou hits the UK on a run of November 2021 Heavy Metal Feelings headline tour dates later this year, with tickets on sale now (see below for listings).
