“Rise has always been the big one for us” say the band “We’ve been excited about this one coming out for almost a year. The fact that we are releasing it with LAB Records is even more amazing…we can’t wait for people to hear it.”

The stream of the new song comes ahead of a special BBC Introducing curated gig this week hosted by R1’s Huw Stephens and local BBC Introducing presenter James Santer, who will present an evening of live music at Exeter Phoenix with Muncie Girls, Tourists and Witterquick performing as part of BBC Radio 1’s #R1Academy project.

Fans can still register to apply for free tickets to the gig from:http://www.skiddle.com/whats-on/Exeter/Exeter-Phoenix/BBC-Introducing-Gig/12729986/

This year’s Academy includes a month of free outreach activity across Exeter and Teignbridge in the run up to BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend that aims to inspire local 16-19 year-olds to take the next step in creative careers.

“We are thrilled to finally announce that we will be playing at the BBC Radio 1 Academy Big Weekend Show” say the band “The night will be recorded live for broadcast on Radio 1 and we will be sharing the stage with some of Exeter’s finest – Muncie Girls and Tourists! Tickets are going incredibly fast, so make sure you register for a free ticket here NOW!”

Dan Gooding, Executive Producer, BBC Learning, says: “Radio 1’s Academy will inspire 16-19 year-olds from all backgrounds in Teignmouth and Exeter to take the next step in pursuing creative careers. The opportunity to hear directly from those at the top of their field and learn more about routes into the creative industries will provide unique insights that will help them to let their talent flourish and reach their potential.”

With support for Witterquick already rolling in from Kate Lawler at Kerrang! Radio and BBC Introducing in Devon, the band have already set about cementing themselves as ones to watch in 2016, with further details of the EP to be revealed over the coming months.

‘Beneath The Spinning Lights’ is released 17th June via LAB Records
