BELLEVUE DAYS Announce Debut Album & Return With Lead Single ‘FREAKIN OUT’

5th July 2019

Following a pair of high-profile support tours with transatlantic rockers As It Is and Canadian alternative duo Rare Americans earlier this year, Croydon-based sludge pop/alt-rock four piece, Bellevue Days, are delighted to announce that their debut album It Can’t Possibly Go Wrong Ever will be released later this year.

As an early taster of new material from the record, the band have released a cinematic video for new single ‘FREAKIN OUT’, the first track to be taken from the album.

Matching their ambitions for the record with the pedigree of their collaborators, the video for the single was directed by Richard Heslop, who has previously worked with rock royalty Queen, The Smiths and The Cure on some of their more far out visuals. “We wanted something a bit freaky, which is something Richard managed to capture perfectly,” front man Alan Smith enthuses. “He really gets into it, to the point where we almost had a snow machine! Luckily we captured everything we needed to without it…”

“‘FREAKIN OUT’ is mainly about depression—a kind of depression that keeps you up all night and makes you question everything,” elaborates Smith on the new single. “I’ve had some people close to me deal with addiction and depression, and it’s hard for everyone involved. We were listening to a bit of Demob Happy at the time, that kind of inspired the chorus. Also we’ve always loved ourselves a cheeky bit of Manchester Orchestra.”

The track is the first new material from the band since the release of their two highly-praised EPs—2016’s Sad Boy and 2017’s Rosehill—for which the band saw a huge swell of support at national press, gaining coverage from The Independent, Kerrang! Magazine, Rock Sound, DIY, Upset and Dork. Their single ‘Ripped Jeans’ was picked as Zane Lowe’s Hottest Record in The World on Beats 1, and spent 6 weeks on the Kerrang! Radio playlist, with further spins at BBC Radio 1, Radio X, BBC Introducing, Soho Radio, and many more specialist shows.

The band have previously appeared at 2000 Trees, Citadel, Oberkampf Music Festival, PWER Festival, with further lives dates alongside As It Is, mewithoutYou, Twin Atlantic, Mallory Knox, Jamie Lenman, PATRONS, Vukovi and The Young Hearts.

Further live dates and details of the album will be revealed over the coming months.
