California singer-songwriter Maria Taylor is delighted to announce a run of October 2026 UK tour dates, with presale tickets available now.

The dates come in support of Taylor’s latest album Story’s End, which is out now on Conor Oberst’s (Bright Eyes) label venture Million Stars Records (US), and set for an EU release via Grand Hotel Van Cleef on 2nd October 2026.

To give fans a taste of the new material, Taylor is today pleased to reveal her new single ‘Tricky’, released 9th September 2026.

Commenting on the track, Taylor says: “‘Tricky’ holds a lot of weight on this record, in my opinion. It’s unlike all of the other songs and provides a break from the emotional journey. It’s like you open the door and enter a dark bar, with a dirty martini sitting on a table waiting for you. You drink it, then go back into the main room.”

The track comes with an official video by French director and editor Amélie Raoul. Commenting on the shoot, Taylor says: “Amélie is married to Ben Brodin, who produced the record. I had admired her work and we began developing a friendship as Ben and I were working on the album. We decided it would be rad if she made a video for one of the songs. She had listened to these songs for months, during all the stages, and decided Tricky was the one. We shot the scenes in Los Angeles at night and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. A tale of loneliness, obsession, and  surrender in the city that we have both come to love and call home.”

Maria Taylor is a singer-songwriter whose work moves through hushed intimacy and cinematic sweep, known both for her solo recordings and as a founding member of Azure Ray. Across a career that includes collaborations with artists such as Conor Oberst, Phoebe Bridgers, Adam Duritz, and others, Taylor has developed a signature sound defined by widescreen strings, bell-like piano, and lyrics that evoke the subtle emotional shifts of relationships and memory rather than their grand gestures.

Her new album, Story’s End, unfolds like a series of interconnected scenes—songs functioning as chapters in a hazy, reflective narrative where promises dissolve, bonds fracture, and solace is found in the smallest, fleeting moments. Written over several years and completed in the wake of profound personal upheaval, the record finds Taylor returning to earlier sketches and discovering an “accidental narrative” that binds them together. What began as a slow, exploratory process became an emotional lifeline, as Taylor sought to create something beautiful while life around her was unraveling.

Recorded between Taylor’s home studio in California and ARC Studios in Omaha, Story’s End was shaped alongside longtime collaborators and friends. Ben Brodin ultimately produced the album, with contributions from Mike Mogis (Bright Eyes), Brad Armstrong (13ghosts), Nate Walcott (Bright Eyes, M. Ward), and Pierre DeReeder (Rilo Kiley), among others.

Standout tracks like the pulsing ‘Never Thought I’d Feel New’ and the sweeping ‘Shades of Blue’ sit at the heart of the album, while lyrical and vocal contributions from Conor Oberst add to its emotional depth. Throughout, Taylor’s voice remains quiet yet resolute, guiding the listener through a landscape of loss, transformation, and tentative hope.

At its core, Story’s End feels like a journal, or a collection of photographs—paying close attention to the seconds and minutes that shape a life: slants of light, passing nights, shared silences. The album offers a space of refuge and healing, ultimately arriving at the understanding that endings are rarely final, and that transformation often comes gently, almost unnoticed. With Story’s End, Maria Taylor doesn’t wrestle with her ghosts so much as she carries them carefully forward, finding consolation in their presence and meaning in what remains.
