Fresh from an appearance at Camden Rocks Festival recently, Cumbrian punks COLT 45 are pleased to reveal the video for their new single ‘What You See If What You Get’ – the latest track to be taken from their new EP ‘Snakes & Ladders’ which is out now on Visible Noise Records.

The band will also be playing a special free London show on 29th June at The 100 Club, on stage at 7.30pm – fans can register for tickets by emailingpunk@sevenfriday.com

Colt 45 have long been community-minded pioneers for the modest Cumbrian rock scene, recently launching their ‘I Remember When The Rain Came Down’ charity single to help victims of the recent floods and donating all proceeds to the Cumbria Flood Appeal. Now, for their new single, they wanted to give something back to local students by getting them involved in the production of the video.

“Music videos are something we never really thought about when we started out” comment the band “We just wanted to get out and play shows! So for this track we wanted to hand the reigns over to a local film maker that could bring a different perspective to our music. Working with Emma and the guys from the University of Cumbria has been a fantastic experience and we were really impressed at how organised and professional the guys were, especially working on a budget of zero and right in the middle of their final year Uni exams!”

“Involving the local community in everything we do has always been really important, and vital for us – all of our artwork, videos and merchandise to date has been produced by Cumbrians, in Cumbria and the local fan base has been our solid foundation for everything we’ve been able to do since Day 1. We’d like to say a huge thank you to Emma, Clare and Robbie for all their hard work and passion in bringing What You See Is a What You Get to life, and wish them all the best for going on to achieve the careers they want and deserve after graduation this summer.”

The video was directed by Emma Whittaker, owner of Silver Sloth Productions and UoC Adventure Media graduate who says: “To be able to get an opportunity to work with COLT 45 like this was great, it’s something I hadn’t really done before and it’s opened some more doors for me. It’s also been a chance to show my company and skills to the public and to fans of the band. The lads were so cooperative to work with and did everything I wanted them to do! Thanks for the opportunity!”

Clare Hannah, who takes the video’s lead role and is a UoC Musical Theatre & Drama Performance graduate commented: “Working with COLT 45 and Silver Sloth Productions on this music video has been an awesome experience, getting to meet a band that’s so passionate about their art and local community is fantastic to see. I feel so lucky to have been offered a part in the journey of a band that should create a massive footprint on the music industry very soon!”

Winning national plaudits from the likes of Kerrang! Magazine, Rock Sound, Big Cheese Magazine, BBC Radio One and more, COLT 45 are a testament to the phrase “substance over style”. Merging heartfelt, small-town frustration with melodic punk anthems and contagious hooks, the trio have worked their way up from the bottom by gigging relentlessly.
