DZ DEATHRAYS Reveal Pawfect Video For New Single ‘Golden Retriever’
Alcopop! Records are delighted to share DZ Deathrays’ latest track ‘Golden Retriever’, along with the gorgeous video directed by Joe Agius (Hatchie/The Creases), featuring none other than everybody’s favourite golden canines themselves.
The band have also just announced a string of Australian headline tour dates for their Positive Rising: Part 2 album tour this September/October (see below for listings).
The final track to drop ahead of the release of forthcoming new album Positive Rising: Part 2 on Friday 9th July 2021, ‘Golden Retriever’ is a nugget of hard rock gold with surprisingly sensitive undertones.
Reflecting on how ‘Golden Retriever’ came together, drummer Simon Ridley says: “This song was a surprising last-minute addition to the album. I think Shane (Parsons) sent me the first demo just a week or two before we went into the studio to record. Everyone’s parts just fell into place really easily and so quickly. It was a pretty fun song to record too, and I think the title captures the vibe pretty well.”
Commenting on the video shoot, Ridley continues: “This film clip was definitely one of the most fun shoots we’ve done thanks to all the dogs who were there. I’m really going to miss having 6 super happy golden retrievers running around out the back of film clip shoots.”
DZ (aka Shane, Simon and Lachy) are “stoked” to be taking Positive Rising: Part 2 on tour, with shows locked in for Perth, Margaret River, Hobart, Adelaide, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Canberra, Newcastle and Wollongong (plus more to be announced soon).
Supporting DZ at all shows is Brisbane rapper/singer/producer Nerve, who gained nationwide attention through hit singles ‘Where You Been’ featuring Sydney’s ChillinIt and ‘Sunday Roast’ featuring Tweed Heads rapper JK-47, which have collectively amassed close to 4 million streams on Spotify alone, and the band “can’t wait to see the live energy Nerve brings” to their already notoriously fiery shows.
‘Golden Retriever’ joins previous hits ‘Make Yourself Mad’, ‘Fear The Anchor (feat. Ecca Vandal)’, ‘All Or Nothing’ and ‘Fired Up’ from Positive Rising: Part 2.
All tracks have been met with acclaim from fans and industry alike with adds to local and international rock playlisting on Spotify and Apple Music plus coverage from the likes of DIY (UK), UPSET (UK), DORK (UK), The Line Of Best Fit (UK), Guitar World, Far Out Mag, Dead Press!, Stereoboard, Blunt Mag, Rolling Stone AU, NME and triple j.
‘Fear The Anchor (feat. Ecca Vandal)’ was added to Amazing Radio (UK) playlist and recently hit #16 on New Zealand’s national Rock Radio chart. ‘Fired Up’ and ‘All Or Nothing’ were added to rotation at triple j, both making it to the Top 10 most-played song on the station.
