itoldyouiwouldeatyou are today pleased to reveal a special remix of their track ‘Earl, King, Whatever’ by British gloomy emo rap collective WORSTWORLDPROBLEMS.
Commenting on the track, WWP member nomorewillroam said: “Married to ITYIWEY, it felt only right to record a remix of one of our favourite tracks to celebrate the album’s birthday. ‘Earl, King, Whatever’ was chosen on account of us feeling it would allow us the most flexibility and scope when remixing and writing and we wanted to match the feeling of isolation and yearning and what it means to ‘belong’, ‘grow up’ and to ‘be on time’.”
Commenting on the remix collaboration, ITYIWEY vocalist Joey Ashworth says: “We reached out to WORSTWORLDPROBLEMS pretty soon after they’d confirmed they were playing the Oh Dearism anniversary show asking if they’d like to remix any of the tracks. It’s no secret we’re massive fans of their music (you can see them in the car with us in the ‘Almost Zero’ video) so we were really excited to hear what song they’d choose to filter through their sound, which is moody af. When I heard it I just grinned real wide, ‘cos frankly this whole project is an excuse for us to hear more new shit from one of the best bands in south London.”
The news comes ahead of this weekend’s very special show celebrating the one year anniversary of the release of their critically acclaimed genre-busting debut album Oh Dearism on Alcopop! Records x Failure By Design.
Alongside revealing the remix, the band are also delighted to announce the addition of Prima Queen to the anniversary show line-up. Fronted by songwriting duo and best friends Louise Macphail (Bristol, UK) and Kristin McFadden (Chicago, USA), the band combine vulnerable and nostalgic storytelling with light-hearted lyrical imagery. Their bitter-sweet and gritty style draws influences from artists such as Alvvays, Julia Jacklin, Phoebe Bridgers and Lucy Dacus.
Taking place on the 6th December 2019, ITYIWEY will be playing Oh Dearism in full at Chats Palace, London with support from already-announced friends Flirting. and WORSTWORLDPROBLEMS.
