Toy Mountains Reveal ‘Hard Done By’ Video

10th November 2016

Glasgow’s Toy Mountains are extremely pleased to reveal a tense new videofor previously unreleased new track ‘Hard Done By’, the latest to be taken from their new EP I Swore I’d Never Speak of This Again available to pre-order now and released on 25th November 2016 via Crooked Noise Records.

To celebrate the release of the EP the band have also announced a short run of UK headline dates with support from fellow Glaswegian alt-rock trio Donnie Willow (see below for details).

Shot by Jarvis L Gray of Nadsat Collective and designed by Julian Bailey, the taut and macabre black and white visuals are the perfect accompaniment to the band’s brand of claustrophobic and skittering progressive alternative rock, which is already racking up support from the likes of Rock Sound, Clash, Upset, Kerrang! Radio, BBC Radio One and more.

Speaking about the influence behind the track, Greg Lyden (vocals & guitars) said: “The song is about choosing to go your own way in life. It’s about a personal struggle I’ve faced but one that I feel may resonate with others; not making what other people might see as the correct choices just because it’s expected of you, and how their expectations can hold you back and affect your sense of self-worth.

“The lyrics come to the conclusion of finding strength in defiance against doing what others may expect of you, even if that means leaving them behind. It was one of the first songs we wrote for the EP and it really helped set the tone for how we wanted the rest of the release to sound.”

A progressive alternative rock band with strong math-rock and post-hardcore influences, this four-piece exist solely to create music without boundaries. The epicentre of the band’s creative direction has one purpose: to evoke emotion. Whether it be happiness, sadness or blackout rage, Toy Mountains ruthlessly ensure that any audience is fully engaged and will leave having gained something memorable from the experience.

Their previous single ‘Old Friends’ has been picking up praise from Daniel P Carter and Phil Taggart at BBC Radio One, Alex Baker at Kerrang! Radio, Aaron Phillips and Jim Gellatly at Amazing Radio, Alex Irons at Total Rock and Roundhouse Radio, and many more specialist rock shows.

I Swore I’d Never Speak of This Again is released on 25th November 2016 via Crooked Noise Records.
